The Soup and Salad Cafe (Chennai)

Not worth the wait

There is nothing like lemonade, they say, to cool you off...Here at The Soup and Salad Cafe, glass after bottomless glass of lemonade too might not be enough to curb your anger. After all, the food - like Godot - just never appears! When it does, and you dig in hungrily, you do not get what the whole fuss was all about. The chicken soup is strictly potable, and the chicken sandwich is equally ordinary. The only redemption for the Cafe is the portion, which is fairly sizable and at least fills your stomach if not your heart. The stewards look confused most of the time, and often resort to the Bottomless Lemonade (essentially, unlimited lemonade at a fixed price) as a quick-fix placation. Finally, as you have finished eating and are looking for a wash-basin, you are told there is one outside the restaurant, and after some poking around, are directed to an annexe where you find a person washing dishes. An appropriate end to a not-so-appropriate meal!
