A microcosm of Chennai

They say Sangeetha is more than a restaurant - it is an institution synonymous with Chennai itself. Go there and sample the vada and the idli, and you shall see why. The idli actually has some taste (in other words, more than just a rice cake) and the small but succulent vadas leave you pining for more. Naturally, you would want to go a step up and order the vadas soaked in sambar - an even better treat with the vadas already getting softened and the sambar being equally palatable. A meal at Sangeetha cannot but end with kesar baath, the wheat-based dessert that is a few notches sweeter at this place than at most other restaurants in the city. As an accompaniment, a fresh lime soda may be chosen for it does have the perfect blend of sweetness and fizz, but it is best to leave the flavour Tamil without any infiltration. While the service and the hygiene could definitely be better for a restaurant of such repute, Sangeetha more than does justice to that reputation through what matters most - the food.
