Irish Pub has it all - round tables, a large bar area, music, sports on the tube, the works. And yet, with all of that, it retains the humanitarian touch to a significant extent. For instance, if you want to catch up with old friends over a beer, you can ask the steward to reduce the music volume and, unlike more fashionable places like HRC, he will actually comply. Add to that the food - delectable chicken wings and, if you are vegetarian, crispy and yet easily digestible fries. The chicken, especially, deserves special mention for the near-perfect level of cooking, and the cheesy dip that comes along with the dish. Most importantly, at no point are you pressurised to put in an order - it is just that you are so enamoured by the relaxed atmosphere here (broken occasionally by the occasional tennis player on the tube hitting an easy volley into the net) that you feel compelled to order your drink and eventually your food as well.
