Mumbai Masala (Shivaji Park)

Just the Place for some Masala

Call it invisibility or what you will, Mumbai Masala, off Mahim Bay, certainly deserves more than 25% occupancy. While prices are on the steeper side, the food is worth a shot, especially if one likes the traditional daal-roti fare. The dal makhani is among the best available this side of town, and the bread too is soft and quite palatable. Unfortunately, the open bar here seems to work to Mumbai Masala's disadvantage, since it is an immediate turn-off for those in the family scheme of things. For the casual diner though, the lack of people offers the added advantage of a peaceful dinner with food not only for thought but also for conversation.
